| September 1, 2008 YEAR IN REVIEW As the old saying goes, "Time flies when you're having fun." We are quickly heading toward the end of 2008 and have had quite a time with our share of ups and downs. We began the year on a high with the release of our fourth CD entitled Get On Board. This project had been many months in the making and we were very excited with its launch in January. It has been very well received and we want to offer our many thanks to all who have given their support to our ministry. Your words of encouragement have helped to lift our spirits and bolster our confidence. By the way, for those who may be interested, select songs from our two latest CDs -- Follow Me and Get On Board -- may be heard on some of our local radio stations: KMST 88.5 FM -- Hear us on the Sunday morning Gospel program with Wayne Bledsoe between 7 and 9 am. KTTK 90.7 FM -- We were really nervous for a while when Ken, our bass who is also active duty army, was scheduled to deploy to Iraq. But the Lord was watching out for us and Ken is happily stateside with approval to retire from the military in 2009. We had yet another scare when Brian (baritone) announced last month that he thought he would have to quit singing with us. He has been in the process of building a new house, which requires a lot of time and attention especially when you're doing most of the work yourself. He also has plans to start a business (ditto the last phrase above). It was finally agreed that he would simply take a leave of absence until after his house is finished sometime this fall, then he'll work the singing group around the rest of his schedule. As for Steve and I (the two tenors), we're the die-hards of the group. We started Master's Praise together some 6+ years ago, so it would probably be easier to cut off our right arms than stop singing. I hope that's good news for those of you who like to hear us! Throughout it all, 2008 so far has given us opportunities to sing in various venues around the area -- to lift up hearts, bring joy, encourage, share Jesus, and have lots of fun doing it!! We are far from finished and hope to hit the ground running in 2009. FUTURE PLANS It is unreal how much material we have been working on for upcoming CD recordings! In 2009 and beyond we will be in the studio making one (and maybe two CDs) featuring some of the old hymns many of you have been asking us about. There is a children's CD in the works. We would also like to record a CD with nothing but original songs written by Master's Praise. This may be further down the road since we still have more songs to write. We also want to expand our quartet to 5, 6, or even 7 voices. If you think you would like to sing with us or know someone who would, please contact us quickly and we'll arrange a tryout. Of course, our bread and butter (so to speak), is performing in live concerts. So we will be taking bookings for 2009 immediately. Let us know if we can perform for your church or function in the coming year. Certainly, we plan on much success in 2009 -- giving God the glory and all our supporters undying thanks! ~~ John |
